New Diplomatic Team at the Cyprus High Commission in London

Νέα διπλωματική ομάδα στην Ύπατη Αρμοστεία της Κύπρου στο Λονδίνο

Με ανανεωμένη σύνθεση και νέα κατανομή αρμοδιοτήτων συνεχίζει, από τον Αύγουστο του 2026, το έργο της η Ύπατη Αρμοστεία της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.

Ο Ύπατος Αρμοστής, Πρέσβης Δρ Κυριακός Κούρος, καλωσόρισε τα δύο νέα μέλη της Διπλωματικής Αποστολής, τους διπλωμάτες του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών κα Άννα Παπασάββα και κ. Πιέρο Πιερή, οι οποίοι ανέλαβαν τα καθήκοντά τους στο Λονδίνο. Τη νέα σύνθεση της ομάδας συμπληρώνει ο κ. Οδυσσέας Οδυσσέως, ο οποίος υπηρετεί στην Ύπατη Αρμοστεία από το 2022 και αναλαμβάνει νέο ρόλο στην Αποστολή.

Η Σύμβουλος Β’ Άννα Παπασάββα ανέλαβε καθήκοντα Αναπληρώτριας Ύπατης Αρμοστή για Ευρωπαϊκές και Πολυμερείς Υποθέσεις και Διεθνείς Οργανισμούς. Υπηρετεί στο Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών από το 2010 και, πριν από την τοποθέτησή της στο Λονδίνο, διετέλεσε Επικεφαλής Ευρωπαϊκών Υποθέσεων στη Γενική Γραμματεία Ευρωπαϊκών Υποθέσεων του Υπουργείου. Προηγουμένως, διετέλεσε Αναπληρώτρια Επικεφαλής Αποστολής και Πρόξενος στην Πρεσβεία και Μόνιμη Αντιπροσωπεία της Κύπρου στα Ηνωμένα Έθνη και τον Οργανισμό για την Ασφάλεια και τη Συνεργασία στην Ευρώπη (ΟΑΣΕ) στη Βιέννη, καθώς και στην Πρεσβεία της Κύπρου στο Παρίσι. Έχει επίσης υπηρετήσει στην Ομάδα Εργασίας του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών για το Brexit και στον τομέα των διμερών σχέσεων.

Ο Γραμματέας Α’ Οδυσσέας Οδυσσέως ανέλαβε καθήκοντα Αναπληρωτή Ύπατου Αρμοστή για Διμερείς και Διοικητικές Υποθέσεις. Εντάχθηκε στην κυπριακή Διπλωματική Υπηρεσία το 2010 και από το 2015 έως το 2020 υπηρέτησε στη Μόνιμη Αντιπροσωπεία της Κύπρου στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση στις Βρυξέλλες, ενώ την περίοδο 2020-2022 διετέλεσε Αναπληρωτής Διευθυντής Εθιμοτυπίας του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών. Στο Λονδίνο, διετέλεσε Γενικός Πρόξενος της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, ενώ παράλληλα συμμετείχε στην Εκτελεστική Επιτροπή του Consular Corps of London.

Νέος Γενικός Πρόξενος της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο είναι ο Γραμματέας Α’ Πιέρος Πιερή, ο οποίος εντάχθηκε επίσης στη Διπλωματική Υπηρεσία το 2010 και διαθέτει εμπειρία σε προξενικές, ευρωπαϊκές και πολιτικές υποθέσεις. Διετέλεσε Αναπληρωτής Επικεφαλής Αποστολής και Πρόξενος στην Ύπατη Αρμοστεία της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στην Πρετόρια της Νοτίου Αφρικής και, στη συνέχεια, υπηρέτησε στη Μόνιμη Αντιπροσωπεία της Κύπρου στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση στις Βρυξέλλες και στη Γενική Γραμματεία Ευρωπαϊκών Υποθέσεων του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών. Πριν από την τοποθέτησή του στο Λονδίνο, υπηρετούσε ως Ευρωπαίος Ανταποκριτής στη Διεύθυνση Πολιτικών Υποθέσεων.

Υπό τον Ύπατο Αρμοστή, Δρ Κυριάκο Κούρο, η ανανεωμένη διπλωματική ομάδα συνεχίζει το πολυσχιδές έργο της Αποστολής, με σταθερή προτεραιότητα την περαιτέρω εμβάθυνση των σχέσεων Κύπρου και Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου, την προώθηση των θέσεων και συμφερόντων της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας σε διμερές και πολυμερές επίπεδο, περιλαμβανομένης της εκπροσώπησής της στην Κοινοπολιτεία και στον Διεθνή Ναυτιλιακό Οργανισμό (ΔΝΟ/IMO), καθώς και τη διατήρηση της στενής και εποικοδομητικής συνεργασίας με την κυπριακή παροικία και τους οργανωμένους φορείς της στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.

New Diplomatic Team at the Cyprus High Commission in London

A renewed diplomatic team is in place at the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in the United Kingdom as of August 2026.

The High Commissioner, Ambassador Dr Kyriacos Kouros, welcomed two new members of the Diplomatic Mission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs diplomats Ms Anna Papasavva and Mr Pieris Pieri, who have taken up their duties in London. Mr Odysseas Odysseos, who has served at the High Commission since 2022, remains part of the team in a new role within the Mission.

Counsellor B’ Anna Papasavva has taken up her duties as Deputy High Commissioner for EU and Multilateral Affairs and International Organisations. She has served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2010 and, prior to her posting to London, was Head of EU Affairs at the Ministry’s General Secretariat for European Affairs. Previously, she served as Deputy Head of Mission and Consul at the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Vienna and Permanent Representation to the UN and OSCE, as well as at the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Paris. She has also served on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Brexit Task Force and worked on bilateral affairs.

First Secretary Odysseas Odysseos has taken up his duties as Deputy High Commissioner for Bilateral and Administrative Affairs. He joined the Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a diplomat in 2010 and served at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the European Union in Brussels from 2015 to 2020. Between 2020 and 2022, he served as Deputy Chief of State Protocol in Nicosia. Since August 2022, he has served as Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Kingdom and has also been a member of the Executive Committee of the Consular Corps of London.

The new Consul General of the Republic of Cyprus in the United Kingdom is First Secretary Pieris Pieri, who also joined the Diplomatic Service in 2010 and has experience in consular, European and political affairs. He served as Deputy Head of Mission and Consul at the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in Pretoria, South Africa, and subsequently at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the European Union in Brussels and the General Secretariat for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to his posting to London, he served as European Correspondent at the Directorate for Political Affairs.

Under the leadership of the High Commissioner, Ambassador Dr Kyriacos Kouros, the renewed diplomatic team continues the Mission’s wide-ranging work, with a continued focus on further deepening relations between Cyprus and the United Kingdom, advancing the positions and interests of the Republic of Cyprus at bilateral and multilateral level, including through its representation at the Commonwealth and the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and maintaining close and constructive cooperation with the Cypriot community and its organised bodies across the United Kingdom.
