Seven Disciplines Award Medals on Day 6 of 2026 Winter Olympics

(MENAFN) Medals were awarded across seven disciplines on Day 6 of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina, Italy, with nine events contested in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, luge, short track speed skating, snowboard, and speed skating.

In alpine skiing, Italy’s Federica Brignone claimed gold in the women’s super-G with a time of 1:23.41, earning her first Olympic title and becoming the oldest gold medalist in Olympic alpine skiing history at 35. France’s Romane Miradoli took silver, while Austria’s Cornelia Huetter won bronze.

Sweden’s Frida Karlsson earned her second gold of the Games in the women’s 10-kilometer freestyle cross-country race, finishing in 22:49.2. Fellow Swede Ebba Andersson secured silver, and US skier Jessie Diggins took bronze.

Australia’s Cooper Woods captured gold in the men’s moguls freestyle skiing event with 83.71 points. Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury won silver, while Japan’s Ikuma Horishima earned bronze.

Germany, represented by Julia Taubitz, Tobias Wendl, Tobias Arlt, Max Langenhan, Dajana Eitberger, and Magdalena Matschina, won gold in the luge team relay with a time of 3:41.672, marking the nation’s fourth consecutive Olympic title in the event. Austria finished second and Italy third.

Italy’s Francesca Lollobrigida claimed her second gold of the Games in the women’s 5,000-meter speed skating event with a time of 6:46.17. Dutch skater Merel Conijn took silver, and Norway’s Ragne Wiklund earned bronze.

Austria’s Alessandro Haemmerle successfully defended his men’s snowboard cross title, with Canada’s Eliot Grondin winning silver and Austria’s Jakob Dusek taking bronze.

In the women’s snowboard halfpipe, 17-year-old Gaon Choi of South Korea scored 90.25 points to become the youngest medalist of Milano-Cortina 2026, winning gold. American Chloe Kim earned silver, while Japan’s Mitsuki Ono captured bronze.
